Sen. Bob Casey Jr. has served as a U.S. senator since 2007. He has served as a strong advocate for the state of Pennsylvania and its citizens on a variety of issues.

Born in Scranton, PA, Sen. Casey is an alumnus of College of the Holy Cross and Catholic University of America, class of 1982 and 1988 respectively.

During his career — prior to working in the legislative branch of government — he practiced law in Scranton. In addition, he served as the Pennsylvania Auditor General for eight years. He, also, served in state government as the State Treasurer from 2005 to 2006. After which, he ran for and won the position of being a PA U.S. senator.

Sen. Casey is a moderate to conservative Democrat. He works to be an advocate for all Pennsylvanians, especially for children and older adults. Sen. Casey has created bills that have helped to fund early education and education for pediatricians.

Not only has Sen. Casey helped get funding for valuable causes, but he also works to be a fiscal barrier between the federal government and the U.S. people. Helping to pass into law several pieces of legislation that help Americans save money, defund terrorist organizations and support small businesses.

Another political issue that Sen. Casey has been a strong advocate of is protecting all people from the dangers of sexual assault. The reform of Megan’s Law is an effort that was headed up by Sen. Casey. This law is a requirement that state police departments have registry of people who have somehow been involved in certain sexual offense crimes.

He, also, sponsored the legislation of the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act, which helps colleges and universities to create safety and reporting guidelines for sexual assault incidents.
